At Grounding Roots Counseling, LLC we provide therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and adults. We want clients to feel as though they have safe place to explore the various challenges that life may bring and understand how difficult it can be ask for help. Individuals are supported as they begin to regain control of their life and gain a deeper understanding of life experiences that have impacted their emotional well being.
Mariesa Croteau, LMHC earned her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Lesley University focusing on holistic approaches to counseling. She has been providing services to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families for over 9 years. She has extensive experience supporting clients who have experienced symptoms related to post traumatic stress disorder, complete trauma, attachment disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, among other challenges. She has experience working in a residential school as well as a public high school. Helping clients and their families foster healthy bonds as they work through complex emotions related to past experiences. Mariesa has experience working with individuals, couples, and families who are trying to navigate various life stages. She utilizes Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) as her primary model for treatment along with motivational interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and focuses on a strength based trauma informed approach in which the client can begin to make connections between their mind and body.
She believes in supporting the client in finding their personal strengths which they can build off of in their healing journey. She strongly values a holistic approach and providing a safe space for clients to grow and heal, as they build a more cohesive sense of self.
Stephen Ricco MS, LCDP, LADC1, CCS
Stephen is compassionate and he leads the charge in addiction treatment. With certifications in Chemical Dependency spanning Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine, Steve brings a wealth of expertise to his role. Armed with a Master of Science from Salve Regina University and a Bachelor’s from Roger Williams University, Stephen employs TF-CBT, IFS, Narrative Exposure, and other diverse modalities to empower those on the journey to recovery. Currently pursuing advanced studies in Clinical Social Work at Rhode Island College, Stephen focuses on trauma-informed care, recognizing the intricate relationship between trauma and addiction. His dedication to expanding his expertise underscores his unwavering commitment to holistic healing.
Beyond the confines of his professional endeavors, Stephen immerses himself in the recovery community, actively participating in 12-step programs and lending support to those embarking on their journey to sobriety. His involvement extends to a faith-based program dedicated to aiding men grappling with profound trauma, showcasing his boundless compassion and dedication to serving others.
Amid his altruistic pursuits, Stephen cherishes his role as a devoted father to his two sons, embodying the values of strength, resilience, and unwavering love. A fervent sports enthusiast, he finds solace and inspiration in football and basketball, channeling the same passion and determination into his personal and professional life.
Devon C. Bakoledis, LICSW
Devon is a dedicated social worker with over five years of direct experience working with families and children. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University, and specializes in working with families, parents, and children. Devon takes a person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and pulls from a range of modalities including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy.
Devon empowers her clients to explore their emotions, identify patterns in thoughts and behaviors, and work through interpersonal relationship challenges. She believes a key part of this process includes fostering a strong connection between mind and body.
Devon is equipped with knowledge, skills, and experience related to Maternal Mental Health and seeks to provide a safe environment for expecting parents and parents of newborns and young children to feel heard and supported.Her background includes working with several populations, such as: first- time parents; those who identify as LGBTQIA;individuals and couples experiencing postpartum depression; individuals experiencing postpartum OCD; and individuals with mood disorders, depression, and/or anxiety.
As someone who values the power of laughter in human connection, Devon believes humor can sometimes be the best medicine, and seeks to create an environment where her clients can express themselves freely on their path to healing.
Dr. Andrea Bushman, is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor who recently
obtained her Doctor of Social Work Degree at Simmons University. She earned her Master's degree in Social Work at Westfield State University. Andrea is a certified trauma clinician utilizing extensive modalities within her sessions to support clients. Andrea utilizes EMDR, exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical therapy, somatic approaches, Gestalt Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing when supporting clients. She has extensive experiencing supporting adult clients who suffer from substance use, alcohol addiction, and mental health disorders. Andrea has over 22 years of experience working with children in residential settings, as a parent aid through the department of Children and Families, as well as supporting children, families, and adults through in-home therapy programs and individual therapy.
